Liangjiang New Area has been ramping up efforts to enhance water quality in recent years in an attempt to protect the Yangtze River.

The area is enhancing the intelligent and digital management of river discharge outlets while implementing systemic reforms in institutional mechanisms.

An important aspect of these endeavors is the deployment of an application for the precise management of river discharge outlets. This application has yielded tangible results through its three-level integration, resulting in an impressive 75 percent increase in the efficiency of detecting and addressing abnormal discharge incidents.

According to a representative from the area's ecological environment bureau, the application has overhauled core processes such as data collection, issue aggregation and identification, problem resolution and acceptance, as well as evaluation and assessment.

Furthermore, authorities have initiated a comprehensive reform of integrated river-lake network management. The area has implemented grid management in eight subdistricts, with a strong focus on enhancing urban water ecology and environment, streamlining urban water management, safeguarding water sources, ensuring efficient water supply, promoting scientific water conservation, adhering to lawful drainage practices, and implementing precise water management strategies.

Concurrently, the area is making significant strides in the planning, construction, and operation of basin remediation projects, aiming to facilitate water resource recycling, elevate the industrial value of waterfront spaces, and bolster regional green development efforts.
