The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced the recognition of TKAS Auto Steel Co, BOE Technology Group Co, and the Liangjiang plant of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co in Liangjiang New Area as national green factories.
The Liangjiang plant of Changan Automobile stands out as the company's major vehicle manufacturing base. It leads the way in transformation and upgrading through intelligent and green technologies, establishing itself as a benchmark factory characterized by intelligence, low carbon emissions, and high efficiency.
An example of the plant's green manufacturing commitment is its solar power generation initiative. In 2024, the plant installed a 33-megawatt distributed photovoltaic system and generated 25.53 million kWh of electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 20,000 metric tons.
The plant has also developed an intelligent energy management platform that oversees production. This platform collects data on energy consumption at each production stage, creating a precise "online factory" for monitoring energy usage.
A representative from Changan Automobile explained that the company has formed a dedicated task force for green ecological design to promote green and low-carbon development. This team accelerates the application of new green technologies and has developed a lifecycle assessment model for complete vehicles and components.
Green factories are enterprises that achieve intensive land use, utilize harmless raw materials, maintain clean production, convert waste into resources, and operate with low-carbon energy. They are key production units in the manufacturing industry and the core implementation entities of green manufacturing, providing essential support for the green manufacturing system.
Liangjiang is home to 17 national and 37 municipal green factories, which drive the development of high-end, intelligent, and green manufacturing and the construction of a comprehensive green manufacturing and service system.
