Changan Automobile launched its European brand presence with a major event in Germany. It unveiled nine new models and introduced its three key brands — Changan, Deepal, and Avatr — to the European market.
"This European launch marks a significant milestone for Changan," said Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan Automobile. He detailed the company's ambitious product rollout plan for Europe, beginning with the Deepal S07 launching in May, followed by the Deepal S05. Over the next three years, Changan intends to introduce eight new models to the European market.
Changan is also dedicated to fostering localized product development and manufacturing in Europe. The company plans to establish over 1,000 sales and service outlets and hire more than 1,000 local employees. To enhance customer service, Changan will introduce the global user brand "withU" for European clients.
Changan has already made significant progress in Europe. Its first dealership in Germany is operational, and its sales network is rapidly expanding in the UK. In Norway, Changan has signed a distribution agreement with Motor Gruppen and will begin opening dealerships and delivering vehicles to customers in the second quarter. Memorandums of understanding have also been signed with prominent local dealers in Portugal and Greece.
This year, Changan aims to expand its sales operations to at least 10 European regional markets. To support this expansion, the company has secured partnerships with KUHNE+NAGEL and Allianz Partners to provide logistics and insurance services.
Changan's relationship with Europe began in 2006 with the establishment of a European design center in Turin, Italy. In September 2024, Changan founded a subsidiary in Munich to oversee sales, technical certification, and localized product development, with plans to establish a regional headquarters in Europe.
In 2024, Changan's total sales reached 2.68 million vehicles, a 5.1 percent increase from the previous year. Overseas exports accounted for 536,000 vehicles, a 49.6 percent increase. By 2025, Changan aims to achieve total sales of 3 million vehicles, with 1 million of those being exports.
