On April 9, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport unveiled its new T3B terminal, marking a significant milestone in its expansion. With the addition of T3B, the airport now operates three terminals, one satellite hall, and four runways, enhancing its capacity to handle 80 million passengers, 1.2 million metric tons of cargo and mail, and 580,000 aircraft movements annually.
T3B boasts advanced smart features and showcases automation and intelligent technology, transforming traditional airport processes. With 151 of its 222 boarding gates now self-service, passengers can pass through in 3 to 5 seconds using facial recognition technology. Now, a 200-passenger flight that would typically require 20 minutes for manual ticket checks can be completed in approximately 13 minutes.
Adding to the terminal's futuristic appeal are 22 multifunctional "compass box" robots that integrate flight information display, broadcasting, surveillance, and fire safety functions.
The airport operates over 40 international routes with nearly 200 flights weekly, connecting North America, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
