Liangjiang New Area released an investment opportunity catalog of urban renewal projects on April 29. Eighty projects, totaling 36 billion yuan ($4.95 billion), will focus on reinvigorating 20 clusters mainly in Longsheng New City, Shuitu New City, and the central urban area of Liangjiang.
The projects will see renovations made to old residential communities, street upgrades, the repurposing of factories, the revitalization of inefficient commercial assets, the development of high-quality residential buildings and public parking spaces, and the optimization of the urban traffic network, among other initiatives.

The 200-million-yuan Sino-Swiss Techno Park (SSTP) upgrade project covers a construction area of 100,000 square meters to foster emerging industries. SSTP is an international high-tech park that offers venues and services to global enterprises engaged in smart manufacturing, biomedical, IT, and other emerging sectors.
The project aims to transform the park into a comprehensive open park, integrating global headquarters offices, startup incubation programs, and premium business-leisure facilities.
The Cuntan International New City project, with a total investment of 20 billion yuan, will transform a former cargo port into an integrated tourism complex. It features six 10,000-ton cruise berths for Three Gorges tours and four berths for Yangtze-Jialing river tours, alongside 1.31 million square meters for commercial, business, residential, and civic services.
A set of urban renewal guidelines was also released, outlining five key renewal clusters and nine encouraged sectors, in alignment with the area's industrial upgrading and development framework.
The five key renewal clusters include Pingchang Industrial Park, Huang Maoping Industrial Park, Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park, Jinshan Industrial Park, and Cuiyun Industrial Park. These clusters cover 4.12 million square meters and foster strategic industries such as new energy vehicles and new generation of information.
For instance, Huangmaoping Industrial Park is positioned as a smart manufacturing hub for next-generation information, Internet-of-Things, and new energy industries, while Jinshan Industrial Park, located next to Cuntan International New City, focuses on fashion consumption and cultural creativity.
The nine encouraged sectors include creative fashion, information services, modern trade, consulting services, intelligent-connected technologies, artificial intelligence, financial services, life sciences and health, and digital platform economy.
