Continental AG, a global leader in mobility technology and a Fortune Global 500 company, is enhancing its research and development capabilities in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area.
The German-based company has established two major R&D centers in the region, underscoring its commitment to innovation and collaboration in the automotive industry.
The partnership between Continental and Chongqing began in 2015 with the launch of Huayu Continental Brake Systems (Chongqing) Co, in collaboration with Huayu Automotive Systems. In 2017, Continental expanded its footprint by establishing its Chongqing R&D Center.
In 2021, Continental further strengthened its presence with the inauguration of the China Software and Systems R&D Center in Liangjiang. This facility is dedicated to advancing software-defined vehicles, autonomous driving, and safety and dynamic control systems.
Ralf Murjahn, general manager of the Chongqing R&D Center, highlighted that Continental has forged strong partnerships with numerous local enterprises, including Changan Automobile and Seres Automotive. The company is making significant strides in concept validation projects with Chongqing-based companies.
Continental has also signed strategic cooperation agreements with local universities, focusing on training engineers, project development, course creation, and establishing training bases.
The Chongqing R&D Center supports a wide range of projects for international OEMs, domestic traditional automakers, and emerging electric vehicle manufacturers, reinforcing its pivotal role in the automotive sector.
