The consumption market in Liangjiang New Area witnessed robust growth during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Oct 1 to 8. Total sales at major shopping centers surpassed 280 million yuan ($39.28 million), with over 2.76 million visits, a 23 percent increase from last year.
The holiday market highlighted the increasing popularity of immersive experiences and the nighttime economy, which have become key drivers of local consumption. By enhancing interactivity and expanding shopping opportunities in terms of time and space, the area continues to realize its full consumption potential.
Shopping centers introduced themed installations that combined art, nature, and popular IP events to elevate the holiday experience.
At The Ring Mall, golden forests, wooden cabins, and pastoral scenes transformed the venue into a seasonal destination. Yang, a resident, took a photo in front of the installation and shared it on social media with the caption, "Autumn becomes tangible at this moment". She mentioned that photogenic settings, engaging activities, and distinctive restaurants are what draw her and her friends to malls.

Longsheng Xinyue Mall invited the popular cartoon character Super Wings, attracting large crowds of children and families. On Oct 1 alone, The Ring Mall reported 4.2 million yuan in sales, while Xinyue Mall welcomed 22,000 visitors — nearly double its usual daily footfall.
Night events have also become drivers of consumption. At dusk, Yuelai Riverside Park comes alive with cycling enthusiasts. Long rides, often spanning dozens of kilometers, have spurred demand for service stations that offer maintenance, group rides, family events, and even on-the-go photography services.
The growing trend of night rides has become a new catalyst for the city's nighttime economy. According to a local cycling club manager, a children's cycling event during the holiday quickly filled up despite its premium price.
Shopping centers have also extended their opening hours, becoming key drivers of the growing night economy. Notably, Sasseur (Chongqing Liangjiang) Outlet achieved record-breaking results during its 17th anniversary celebrations, with new highs in sales, foot traffic, and vehicle flow. Late-night sessions, from 10 pm to 6 am, contributed to a 60-percentage-point increase in sales compared to the same period last year.

The outlet launched large-scale promotional campaigns that attracted crowds of shoppers.
"Sasseur will continue developing the night economy model," said a company representative. The outlet plans to combine flagship stores, dining, and entertainment to create a comprehensive nighttime destination that further energizes Chongqing's nighttime economy.
