Liangjiang New Area is set to launch an initiative that brings Sichuan Opera performances to its communities, part of its efforts to establish a "15-minute quality cultural life circle" and to deliver high-quality cultural resources to the grassroots level.

This series of events will transport the enchanting art of Sichuan Opera from traditional theaters to local neighborhoods, enabling residents to experience its rich heritage and timeless charm right at their doorstep.

The performances will feature a selection of classic and unique Sichuan Opera pieces, providing audiences with the opportunity to enjoy powerful and passionate singing, humorous acts, and traditional skills such as "mask-changing" and "fire-spitting". The goal is to offer a comprehensive glimpse into the essence of this traditional art form.

"A key to preserving our heritage is to bring art into every eager pair of eyes," said a local official. "Through activities like these, we aim to eliminate the barriers between the stage and the audience, allowing Sichuan Opera to truly 'come alive' and be 'passed down'. Some sessions will also feature interactive experiences, inviting residents to participate and discover the joys of Sichuan Opera firsthand."

The first performances are scheduled to be held from Oct 13 to 17, with sessions running from 10:00 to 11:30 am and from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in the Renhe, Lijia, and Dazhulin subdistricts, among others.
