The Watch Design Museum has opened its doors to the public in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing.
The innovative museum, spanning 3,500 square meters, is dedicated to interdisciplinary research and exhibitions, further supporting Chongqing's goal of becoming a "Global Design Capital".
Described as a "three-dimensional magazine" and a "museum in progress", the Watch Design Museum embraces a philosophy of "continuous questioning". According to Zhu Bolin, the museum's founder and director, "Here, design is not just a combination of form and function; it is a way to question the world and seek answers."
The museum's inaugural exhibition, titled Continuous Questioning, fosters an intellectual dialogue that transcends time, space, and culture. Visitors are invited to explore over 200 works by the modernist master Le Corbusier and enjoy the Singapore Design Masters Exhibition.
This showcase features architectural, interior, product, space, and graphic designs by Singaporean luminaries such as Keat Ong and Look Boon Gee.
The museum's collection, which includes notable architectural models by Jean Nouvel, Zhang Yonghe, and Zhu Pei, profoundly reflects cultural, local, and future design responses.
Another museum highlight is the He Zhiya Urban Construction and Historical Cultural City Protection Document Exhibition. Showcasing the work of He Zhiya, a pivotal figure in Chongqing's urban transformation, it features his seven published books, 18 major projects, and numerous photographs spanning two decades.
