China Railway Tunnel Group announced on Sept 15 that the construction of Line 5 is progressing well, and construction of the main body of the Garden Expo Center Station will kick off next week.

Tan Xiu, project manager of the third department of China Railway Tunnel Group, said that since the Garden Expo Center Station is an underground station, before the main project started, the implementation team needed to excavate the ground to construct construction roads leading to the site. A lot of preparatory work has been done in the past, and the construction of the main body will kick off in the next week.

A responsible officer of China Railway Tunnel Group said that the Garden Expo Center Station is a key project of the Line 5 first phase implementation. The project's progress directly affects the progress of the whole line.

The station contains two layers, with an underground depth of 10-14.9 meters. It is 200 meters away from the Garden Expo Park Station on Line 3. Upon completion, it will become a transfer station for Line 3 and Line 5.

In addition, according to the plan, the first phase of Line 5 will connect some stations with Line 1, Line 6, Line 9, the Line 2 extension, Line 12 and Line 15.

According to the construction schedule, the track-laying work of Line 5 will start from the Garden Expo Center Station. According to the current schedule, the work is expected to start in January 2016, and Line 5 will be opened to traffic by the end of 2017.
