On September 13, Liangjiang International College of Chongqing University of Science and Technology, which is a joint cooperation by Liangjiang New Area, the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, and Chongqing University of Science and Technology, officially opened, enrolling its first batch of 6,100 students.

Liangjiang International College of Chongqing University of Science and Technology is the first of its kind in Liangjiang New Area. Through a Sino-foreign cooperative education system, students are expected to get their foreign diploma without travelling abroad.

The Korean Academy of Science and Technology is known as the highest educational institution of scientific excellence in South Korea, as well as South Korea's largest engineering university. In the 2014 QS ranking of Asian universities, it was ranked as the second only behind the National University of Singapore.

A spokesman said that graduates are eligible to apply for Korean Academy of Science and Technology's degree certificates once they finish their studies successfully. Currently, the cooperated education degrees are computers and electronics and this will be expanded to mechanics, biological pharmacy and other subjects.
