Consulate General staffs visit Liangjiang

A 70-member delegation including staffs from UK, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, and Singapore Consulate Generals in Chongqing and Chengdu, together with senior managements from foreign-invested enterprises in Chongqing such as Parkson, Maxell visited Liangjiang New Area on December 2 to find opportunities for cooperation.

The delegation visited Liangjiang New Area Planning Exhibition Center, Bonded Commodities Exhibition and Trading Center, Guoyuan Port, Chang'an Automobile plant, and Yufu Hi-tech Industrial Park.

After visiting Yufu Hi-tech Industrial Park, Guo Nanxi, consul general of Australian Consulate General in Chengdu who has visited Chongqing for 12 times said that Chongqing is more than a city which is known for its beautiful landscape. As for now, the high-tech industry has become an important feature of Chongqing.

This was the first time for Chen Jielin, vice consul of Singapore Consulate General in Chengdu to visit Chongqing. She said that she was shocked to see the rapid growth in Liangjiang New Area. Singapore has a good infrastructure in terms of financial services, and logistics, so there’s vast potential for bilateral cooperation.

Wei Wei, senior manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers Chongqing Branch said that he will introduce Liangjiang New Area’s developments and foreign investment key points on the company’s inner network, with the hope to build a bridge for China and foreign exchange.

In the Bonded Commodities Exhibition and Trading Center, foreign guests were excited to see products from their home countries including Italy, UK, and the Netherlands. They asked prices, purchase channels and other information with great interest. They said that previously, the imported goods were only available in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities in eastern China, but now, they are available in the inland Chongqing thanks for the opening-up strategy. Foreign guests also tasted wines from their hometowns.

David Kavacs, event manager of European Union Chamber of Commerce said that he hoped that a communication platform could be built between EU enterprises and enterprises in Chongqing.He said that Chongqing homes to Chongqing – Xiangjiang- Europe International Railway and the largest inland bonded port, which will provide more convenient Sino-European trades and better transport Chongqing’s services and goods to Europe.

In the first 10 months this year, imports and exports in Liangjiang grew rapidly, with the total exports and imports value of 280.3 billion yuan ($ 45.29), an increase of 90.7 percent.EU and ASEAN are two important trading partners of Liangjiang New Area.
