Liangjiang New Area: Strive to take GDP growth to 15 percent

A press conference of the third session of the fourth Chongqing People's Congress opened on Jan 18. Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Liangjiang New Area administrative committee, attended the press conference.

According to Tang Zongwei, as the first State-level new open area, Liangjiang New Area has welcomed its fifth year of development and construction. Liangjiang will actively adjust to the Chinese economy's "new normal" level of growth and seize the opportunity of domestic demand expansion and the "Two Belts and One Road" strategy.

In 2015, Liangjiang will strive for 15 percent GDP growth, 20 percent growth in large scale industry output, 20 percent growth in fixed investment, 20 percent growth in total import and export volume, and 15 percent growth in public finance budget revenues.

Tang said that with the four years of construction and development, Liangjiang has been equipped with five functions. For instance, Liangjiang has the ability to undertake big projects, strive for national policies and resource support, make more use of social capital, optimize resources in Liangjiang and promote the development of Chongqing.

Innovation is the core strength to promote development. Liangjiang New Area will also process innovation development and foster nine emerging industries, including the smart car industry, big data industry and cloud computing industry. Besides, Liangjiang will make an advantage of its innovation centers to attract more research centers, enterprise technology centers and technology micro enterprises to enter Liangjiang.
