SAIC-GM-Wuling's Chongqing Base expected to produce 210,000 automobiles

According to statistics released by SAIC-GM-Wuling's (SGMW) Chongqing Base, the base is s expected to produce 38,000 completed automobiles in the first quarter of this year.

The annual production capacity of SGMW Chongqing Base is expected to reach 210,000 this year, with the sales revenue of 6 billion yuan ($959 million). In 2016, the sales revenue is expected to exceed 10 billion yuan.

As the first automobile project in the Liangjiang New Area to receive a 10 billion yuan investment, SGMW Chongqing Base aims to become the benchmark auto producer in China.

The first phase of production at the Chongqing base represents an initial investment of 6.6 billion yuan with a production area of nearly 1.6 million square meters.

Chongqing base is SGMW's third base production base in China, joining Liuzhou, in Southwest China's Guangxi Province, and Qingdao, in East China's Shandong Province.

"The automation rate of Chongqing base has surpassed 50 percent and it also owns new energy saving technologies such as the waste-heat recovery technology," said Huang Chunsun, general manager of SGMW Chongqing Base.

According to a senior from the Liangjiang administrative committee, SGMW's Chongqing Base would play a significant role in promoting Liangjiang's automobile industry.
