The 7-day Haixuan Wanguo Shopping Festival featuring goods from 12 countries came to a close in Chongqing on Oct 28.

According to a staff member from the festival, the goods featured at the festival were purchased from overseas factories to reduce costs. Thanks to Chongqing's preferential tax policies in the cross-border ecommerce industry, the goods selling in the festival are cheaper than those in the stores.

In recent years, cross-border ecommerce has developed rapidly in Chongqing, thanks to the government's preferential policies. The cross-border ecommerce turnover of Chongqing municipality has a big growth in the first quarter of this year, seeing a year-on-year increase of six times, according to the statistics released by government.

Approximately 10 enterprises opened in the Chongqing Bonded Port in 2014, while 150 have so far entered the port this year, including leading ecommerce enterprises such as Vipshop.

Following concerted efforts to develop its cross-border ecommerce in Liangjiang New Area, 153 million yuan ($24.07 million) worth of ecommerce business was conducted in the first half of this year.

An experience store was opened by igetmall.net at the Lianglu Cuntan free trade port zone, marking its integration of online and offline business.

While working to cultivate its own ecommerce brand, the free trade port zone is making efforts to draw in more business. In the first half of this year, 98 cross-border ecommerce businesses settled in the zone.
