The KUKA Robotics Corporation, one of the “four robot giants”, has expressed an intention to build its second Chinese robot production base in Chongqing on June 21. The plan arises from KUKA’s recognition of Chongqing’s location advantage and its strong momentum in the robot market.

KUKA also intends to transport its robots to Chongqing via the Eurasia International Railway for marketing.

Yaskawa Electric Co, another foreign robot giant, also expected to settle in Chongqing as soon as possible according to information from the Chongqing robot and intelligent equipment industry alliance.

In addition, FANUC, a third large robot company, signed a contract with the Liangjiang New Area on June 17 to build a factory in the Shuitu Industrial Area.

Three out of four of the big robot companies have thus planned to settle in Chongqing; the exception is Swedish-Swiss ABB.

The four foreign giants are the top robot enterprises with the most advanced core manufacturing technology, occupying 70 percent of China’s industrial robot market.
