Cuntan International New City located in Liangjiang New Area is a major program in Chongqing to deepen its opening-up level, with the cruise port being its core area.

A planning scheme for the cruise port area was issued on April this year by the Chongqing government. As the main construction unit of the area, Chongqing Central Business District Investment Group Co will built it into an international cruise port that boasts multiple functions, including shipping, entertainment, shopping, and tourism.

The construction work commenced on June 18. The civil construction of the railway station at the cruise port concluded in July, and since Sept 28, part of its foreign trade businesses have been transferred to Guoyuan port.

And on Nov 4, 90 percent of the Cuntan International New City Exhibition Center construction was completed.

In addition, a number of leading domestic and overseas enterprises will be introduced to the new city, with the aim of realizing the commercial potential expected to be generated by cruise ships, bonded businesses, bonded zones and the fashion industry.

The government will reportedly intensify its efforts to promote investments in a more professional and market-based approach, in order to achieve a mutually beneficial result in terms of the region's economy and corporate development.
