The five-year-old Chongqing Wewin Technology Co in the Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park of Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, now has a 70-percent market share in the domestic electronic tag market in the field of communications.

"We are one of a few companies that can operate the label application system in the domestic computer operating system," said a staff member from the company.

Electronic tags are similar to an electronic ID card but for items, and are crucial to achieving connectivity between items. The labeled items can be managed with the right tag readers and software systems.

In 2019, the read accuracy of Wewin's electronic tags rose from 85 percent to 99 percent, higher than 90 percent of its competitors.

In 2021, the domestic electronic tag application market scale surged from 80 billion yuan ($11.22 billion) to 140 billion yuan, and foreign heavyweights such as Zebra and Honeywell occupied over 80 percent of the market share.

Relying on its edge in the niche market, Wewin's electronic tag solution sales rose from 2 million yuan in 2018 to 130 million yuan in 2021. Its software and hardware products are now widely used by Huawei, State Grid, and other renowned enterprises in the fields of smart warehousing, asset management, and resource management, and its business serves power supplies, communications, railways, healthcare and banking.
