W China tourism expo opens in Chongqing

The eighth Western China Tourism Industry Expo kicked off in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on June 30.

The expo will last until July 2. "Apart from pictures, words, videos, objects, and performances, the expo will employ naked-eye 3D, holographic projection, AI and other cutting-edge technologies to demonstrate the natural, historical and cultural landscapes of regions," said Zhu Mao, deputy director of the he Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, at a news conference prior to the expo.

The expo features eight major exhibition areas focusing on international and domestic culture and tourism, Sichuan-Chongqing culture and tourism, creative culture development, intelligent technologies applied in culture and tourism programs, cultural tourism equipment manufacturing, entertainment and cartoons and will be participated in by foreign embassies or consulates and tourism promotion agencies from over 25 countries and regions around the world, as well as that of more than 20 municipalities, provinces and cities throughout China.

Also worth noting is that the expo has opened a special display area for museum items, and the Palace Museum and Shaanxi History Museum have joined the expo for the first time.

Local travel agencies from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hungary and other places will talk with their domestic counterparts at the expo to share tourist resources and seek practical cooperation.

Select international and domestic travel routes and incentive policies will also be rolled out at the event, and culture and tourism coupons will be issued to visitors.
