Chongqing pavilion is located in the middle of the Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition, covering an area of 730 square meters. Themed "Mountain City Chongqing, Living a Happy Life," this pavilion imitates the mountains and waterscapes of Chongqing. With special elements like stilted houses, stone steps and streams, Chongqing pavilion shows the natural scenery, customs and daily life in Chongqing, and expresses the simple, hard-working and courageous characteristics of the Chongqing people.
Bayu folk houses in the pavilion display the residential style in Chongqing. In the style, houses are built near mountains and rivers to combine the beauty of both sceneries. Outside the pavilion, there are screen-style walls depicting the cultural landscape. Every screen is a miniature of Chongqing life, which describes the food, clothing, shelter, development history and transportation habits of residents.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
