The first phase of the Shugang Avenue municipal key project, in the Yufu Industrial Development Zone, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, will begin operations soon. It will provide easy access to Orchard Port from the industrial development zone.
The director of the construction managing department at Yufu Industrial Developing Zone said the first phase cost 1.44 billion yuan ($232 million), with 5.1 kilometers and six lanes in two directions, and a width of 36 meters, containing two overpasses, three bridges and one tunnel.
The project is a special traffic lane for Orchard Port, which officially opened at the end of 2013, with an investment of 6 billion yuan. Its six main berth projects have been completed, and the construction of railway and logistics and warehousing area is accelerating.
According to the plan, the avenue project is a key part of Liangjiang New Area’s “water, railway and highway travel hub” program. It helps link Liangjiang international cars city and Orchard Port, and is convenient for the delivery of cars and related products from the Yufu Industrial Developing Zone. At the same time, the avenue also makes it easy to connect the port area and the surrounding expressway network.
The second phase of the project started in March, with a length of 2.6 kilometers stretching east-west, and width of 40 meters, and six lanes in two directions. It starts at Yuxin Avenue and ends at Changan Avenue.
After four years of work, the road network at the Yufu Industrial Developing Zone has been expanded significantly. In the second half of this year, the zone will initiate a number of road projects, such as Fuhong Avenue, Desheng Road and the second phase of Kangshun Road. Meanwhile, the road infrastructure around affordable houses will also be improved.
