The Chongqing Branch of State Grid Corporation of China’s Jiangbei Power Supply Company recently finished its “Project of Electricity Facilities Renovation in More than 100 Residential Areas without Maintenance of Electricity Distribution Facilities” in Liangjiang New Area. The project’s completion will benefit 13,000 users and 39,000 residents.
Previously, the electricity distribution facilities in Liangjiang New Area’s residential areas in Chongqing lacked a governing body to maintain them, which led to frequent breakdowns and outdated electrical facilities.
Last year, Liangjiang New Area’s government began collaborating with electricity supply companies to carry out renovation projects that entailed installing electricity meters in every household and increasing the capacitance of electrical lines.
“The higher capacitance makes for more reliable electricity facilities,” said an official representative of Jiangbei Power Supply Company. The renovated electricity distribution facilities will be run and maintained by power suppliers in residential areas so that residents will only be responsible for the energy’s cost.
The electrical renovation project is one of 22 welfare projects ongoing in Chongqing Municipality.
