Known as the city's "backyard," Beibei district in Chongqing Municipality has accelerated its infrastructure construction in recent years, in a bid to create a first-class investment environment for domestic and foreign companies.

Recently, it's learned from the Liangjiang New Area ninth plenary (enlarged) meeting that during the first half of this year, Beibei district signed contracts for 14 projects, including Huazhong Numerical Control Ltd (HNC), with a total investment of nine billion yuan ($ 1.5 billion).

For 28 projects under construction, Huaneng Gas Turbine will go into operation soon, and the main plant of Jingdong is about to be finished. What's more, Beisheng Technology, Kailian Pharmacy, and Anqiao Automobile will start operations in September and December for Liaodong Valley, Air Liquide, and Ronghao TV.

A good investment outcome is the main benefit from a good investment environment. From January to June this year, there were 37.8 kilometers of roads under construction, 29.6 kilometers of new roads, and 16 kilometers of finished ones in Beibei district. Yuefu Avenue and Zhongyi Road have both opened to traffic.

The district also constructed 62 km pipe network; redirected 46 km pipelines; completed 23 km road greening, and installed 12 km street lights and seven traffic lights. 80 percent of a sewage treatment plant has been completed.

Waikui, Beibei district mayor said that in the second half of this year, Beibei will accelerate the development of 28 projects under construction, and ensure the completion of main plants at Jiongdong and Recco. The government will also put in every effort to introduce new roads, and public rental housing placement supporting projects to ensure the completion of facilities, which include road greening, lighting, traffic lights and accelerate the construction of Jinke, Xuhui and Shouheng city parks.
