On Aug 9, the NHFPC arranged a new medical health team, with 25 members and five vehicles, to Longtoushan township in Ludian, Yunnan province, which was recently hit by an earthquake.
So far, a total of 2,665 medical workers, 526 workers for epidemic prevention and health supervision, as well as 233 vehicles at different levels were arranged in Ludian county for medical rescue work.
Among them, 52 people are national-level experts for medical care, epidemic prevention and psychology. There are four medical teams from Sichuan province and Chongqing, with 124 members and 28 vehicles.
There is also a national health emergency team with 43 people and 14 vehicles. The People’s Liberation Army has sent eight medical and epidemic prevention teams with a total number of 453 people.
Experts of psychology at different levels have worked out psychological intervention plans for injured people and family members of victims of the earthquake. Training of psychological intervention for volunteers was arranged in the earthquake-hit areas, and the psychological conditions of patients received in hospital were assessed and guided.
Regarding the high risk of respiratory and digestive tract infectious diseases, experts of public health made an emergency plan to monitor drinking water in the earthquake-hit areas. As of Aug 9, the earthquake-hit region had finished the disinfection of 7,042 water source spots.
Water suppliers were inspected 110 times and 113 water samples were detected on the spot. Outdoor disinfection was carried out for 858,000 sq meters and health education covered a population of 48,500. There were no reports of major epidemic or health emergency incidents.
