Chongqing recently received the honor of being called China's Exhibition City and Chongqing International Expo Center won the title of "2013-2014 China Exhibition Centre iconic venue".
It was announced at the 10th China International Exhibition Festival in Hainan province, highlighting Chongqing's roles as a leader in the exhibition industry in recent years.
The China International Exhibition Festival is the industry's most forward-looking and high-level event. Since its 2005 inception, it has gone through 10 editions and has been hosted in Zhengzhou, Changchun, Shenzhen, Changsha, Yiwu, Chengdu, Wuhan, Haikou and others , and known as the exhibitioners' festival.
Shi Jian, vice president of Yuelai Investment Group, and general manager of Chongqing International Expo Center said that, for the next step, Chongqing International Expo Center will strive to achieve changes in five areas.
Firstly, change from "exhibition hall" as the center to "exhibition" as the center. The focus should change from ensuring the quality of the exhibition, and providing good site security to enhance the brand value for the exhibition.
Secondly, change from business operation as the center to enhancing the city's brand as the center. Chongqing International Expo Center should work together with local government to enhance the service capabilities, and thus enhance the city's exhibition brand.
Thirdly, change from providing sole exhibition services to multiple products. In addition to exhibitions, the Expo Center can create more business opportunities in the fields of performances, meetings, and other activities.
Fourthly, change from providing a simple architectural entity to providing an intelligent building. The Expo aims to provide more intelligence organization through the extensive use of modern information technology.
Fifthly, change from local to global. Based in Chongqing, Chongqing International Expo Center will cooperate more with nationwide organizers to bring Chongqing's MICE industry to the world.
The awarding once again highlighted the positive developments of Chongqing International Expo Center. As the largest exhibition complex in west China, since its opening in March 2013, it has undertaken 13 exhibitions in the same year, including seven over 30,000 square meters in the city, accounting for 75 percent of the city's above-scale exhibitions.
In addition, it successfully hosted the 46th National Pharmaceutical Machinery Exhibition, which is the first attempt at hosting an over 100,000 square meters national large-scale exhibition in Chongqing. With the exhibition market expanding in China, Chongqing International Expo Center is gaining more and more attention.
