The first Lanzhou-Chongqing rapid transit bus is expected to operate in late September, according to the Gansu Express Passenger Transport Co, which handles Gansu’s passenger traffic, so that people will be able to travel from Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, to the mega-city of Chongqing by bus in just 12 hours.
The over 900 km highway between Lanzhou city and Chongqing city was opened last year.
The passenger transit company worked with Chongqing’s Yu Transportation Co this year on the new project of rapid transit bus service, which is expected to increase cultural and economic contacts between the two major cities and promote tourism as well.
