China's meteorological authorities reissued a blue alert on Saturday for torrential rain that will hit some central and south China regions in the next 24 hours.
The regions included Chongqing, Shaanxi, Hubei, Henan, Shandong, Anhui and Jiangsu provinces with precipitation in some areas up to 120 mm, the National Meteorological Center forecast.
The center warned of waterlogging in cities and landslides in mountain areas.
The center uses a four-tier color-coded warning system, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
