The State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs decided to get a closer look at the mega-city of Chongqing so its deputy head did some field work, Oct 15 – 17, at some area universities to see just how government policies could help the institutions provide better services for foreign staff there.
The deputy head, Zhang Yali, paid a visit to Chongqing University and Southwest University where she spoke with a few foreign experts and got a look at their work and spoke with representatives of more than a dozen universities about ways to use government policy to hire more foreign staff, with.
Taking part of the visit was Nie Biao, director of the Administration’s Cultural and Educational Expert Dept, and Chongqing municipal government officials.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
