After a 15-month construction, SAIC-GM-Wuling Chongqing base was set up and put into operation.

The construction has expereinced varies obstacles. An offical from Longxing company said that the construction during the rainy season was a great challenge. Due to the rainy weather, the construction access roads have been seriously affected and could not be quickly restored immediately. To solve this problem, Longxing company worked together with other parties to carry on construction during the rainy season with the premise of ensuring safety. They built construction roads and laid sandstones, and made the most use of excavators and bulldozers in a bid to meet the construction deadline.

Huang Chunsun, general manager of SAIC-GM-Wuling Chongqing base said that the project only took 15 months from beginning construction to completion, which is exemplary in the history of China's automobile industry. Huang also said that the magic speed should contribute to the cooperation of Chongqing Municipal Government, Liangjiang New Area Adminstrative Committee, corporates and other parties.
