Yim Chhay Ly, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, visited the Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing on May 28. The visit was made with the hope of strengthening communication and cooperation between Cambodia and the new area.
Ling Yueming, director of the Liangjiang administrative committee, introduced the development status of Liangjiang and said that the new area is home to an important financial platform in the upper reaches of Yangtze River and the biggest event platform in China's western regions.
"Since Liangjiang established five years ago, it has made a big progress in developing the inland open economy," said Ling.
The Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway - which essentially connects Liangjiang with European countries - has been in operation for two years. According to Lin, the railway has made a big contribution to the expansion of the world market and the strengthened connections between Liangjiang and foreign countries.
After visiting Liangjiang, Yim Chhay Ly said that he was impressed by the construction of the area. He also said that Liangjiang is a very suitable place to invest and live in.
Yim Chhay Ly hopes that the cooperation between Liangjiang and Cambodia will also be strengthened.
