An international program jointly organized by Chongqing University of Technology (CQUT) and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) will officially launch at CQUT's Liangjiang campus in September.
The two sides will cooperate on four-year international undergraduate education, double-degree undergraduate courses and postgraduate programs.
Both education institutes will join hands to open undergraduate programs in electronic information engineering and computer science and technology. They will also open postgraduate programs on information and communication engineering, and computer science and technology.
The international program will recruit students from Chongqing, Sichuan and Guizhou. Undergraduate programs will begin in September, and postgraduate program will be launched at the beginning of next April.
All courses will be taught in English and follow KAIST’s teaching mode. Specialized courses will be offered in small class sizes and taught by teachers from the South Korean KAIST or other foreign countries.
"KAIST is affiliated with the South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology and focuses on scientific research," said Huang Weijiu, vice president of CQUT. "It was called the Chinese Academy of Sciences in South Korea," he added.
The KAIST was ranked 51st by among the world’s universities and second in Asia by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in 2014. Its schools of electronic information and computer science are among the best in the world.
Cooperation between the two universities has major significance to Liangjiang New Area, since it is working on integrating quality education resources worldwide to evolve itself into a talent base.
