Nearly 800 "new citizens" attended a job fair in Liangjiang New Area on August 18, 2015.
New citizens are those who migrated from rural to urban areas , and sometimes have difficulty finding good jobs.
A total of 34 companies attended the job fair, including famous businesses such as BOE Technology Group and Zongshen Industrial Group, offering more than 1500 posts. Around 800 people went to the job fair, and more than half got tentative job offers.
At the job hunting site, the companies offered basic positions from sanitation and warehouses to higher positions such as programmers and laboratory technician.
Most of the openings required technical secondary school or more. They offered insurance and free accommodation. Some companies even offered monthly salary as high as 8000 yuan, apart from free health checks and bonuses at the end of the year.
Unlike previous job fairs, job hunters decided which company to apply to after thorough enquiries; they were more calm and mature in looking for jobs.
The graduates also have more practical expectations in job hunting. Liu Qinqin, a graduate majored in design from Chongqing University of Technology applied for a job with relatively low requirements. Though it doesn’t fit her major, she said she is willing to accumulate some years of experience before transfer to another industry or starting-up her own business.
The human resource department of the industrial park told reporters that they will make the job fair a regular event.
