Chongqing municipality will construct five new metro lines over the next two years to connect Liangjiang New Area with other districts in the municipality, according to the Liangjiang construction bureau.
Construction on three of the five new metro routes is underway. Metro Line 3 will be extended on its northern side for approximately 10 kilometers from Liangjiang’s Yubei district to the bonded port. The new section of line 3 is expected to open at the end of 2015.
Metro Line 4 will be 17.60 kilometers long and span from Xinpaifang Station to Tangjiang Station; it is expected to be put into operation in 2017.
Metro Line 5 is currently under construction and will act as Chongqing municipality’s central line. It will span 37.75 kilometers from Yubei Garden Station to Tiao Deng Station and is scheduled to begin operations in 2017.
At 43.43 kilometers long, Metro Line 10 will go through the core areas of Liangjiang, including Chongqing North Station, Jiangbei International Airport and Yuelai International Conference Center.
The only circle in Chongqing municipality is also under construction. The line will be 51 kilometers with 33 stop. It will also go through the central areas of Liangjiang New Area. The construction shows that the new circle line will be in pilot operation in the year of 2017.
