The opening ceremony of the Chongqing Liangjiang KAIST International Program was held in Liangjiang's Longxing Industrial District on Sept 14.
The education program is a jointly-launched project by Chongqing University of Technology and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). This year, 66 new students will join the program.
According to the program's sponsor, the training scheme and curriculum will be taught in English. The program aims to train talents in areas of information system technology and computer science.
According to a senior from Chongqing University of Technology, four Korean professors will remain in Chongqing municipality to oversee the education provision. During the program, professors will experience extracurricular activities such as camping with students, to promote communication between them.
"The KAIST program will be significant to education in Chongqing and its economic development," said Shi Xiaohui, headmaster of Chongqing University of Technology.
Shi pointed out that the launch of the KAIST program is aimed at training talents with the standards of the world's best universities.
