China's largest Internet provider, Tencent, will host the 2015 Tecent Global Partner Conference at the Chongqing Yuelai International Conference Center in Liangjiang New Area from Oct 22-24.
It is the fifth year that Tencent has held the conference, which this year will be under the theme of "Internet + Opening up". The conference is aimed at prompting discussions on economic transformation and industry upgrading in conjunction with the municipal government. It is also aimed at helping Chongqing expand its "Internet Plus" industries.
China unveiled the "Internet Plus" strategy in early July. It aims to encourage the integration of traditional sectors, such as manufacturing, agriculture, finance, to conduct more online business.
Thousands of Internet developers from China and foreign countries are expected to attend the conference.
According to Tencent, the company chose to hold the conference in Chongqing municipality after a thorough considered process. Chongqing is known as the hub of the Silk Road Economic Belt and Yangtze River Economic Belt. The conference sponsor plans to designate Chongqing as the core city in constructing an Internet hub. Tecent hopes that it can help Chongqing establish itself as an Internet industry highland to promote the integration of technology innovation industries and Chongqing’s local industries.
As early as May, Tecent began cooperating with the Chongqing Municipal Government and signed a contract with Liangjiang New Area to jointly promote a "makers' space" project in Liangjiang's Northern New District. According to the construction scheme, the space will open in October. It is hoped that the space will inspire creativity and entrepreneurial passion.
