Eastern coastal cities and provinces are leading the way in intelligence services, while those in Central China are developing the area at a faster speed, a report released on Thursday in Hangzhou showed.
China DT City Intelligence Service Index Research Report, jointly released by Alibaba Group's research arm AliResearch, Sina Weibo, Ant Financial and Aliyun, said Zhejiang, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Jiangsu are the top five in the country in terms of city intelligence service development.
Tian Feng, a researcher with AliResearch in charge of the report, said that the index reflected Chinese cities’ service capability, level and quality based on the Internet, cloud computing and big data.
"The index is to provide a concept for cities to evaluate intelligence service development, so that they have a clear reference to further development," he said.
The report evaluated cities’ intelligence services according to three factors — government service index, convenience service index and basic service index.
The report showed that coastal cities have moved ahead while provinces and cities including Henan, Sichuan and Chongqing showed great potential.
Cao Zenghui, vice president of Sina Weibo, said the report will help establish a complex system for city intelligence services, and push forward intelligence services.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
