Xu Shaoshi, director of the National Development and Reform Commission, visited Chongqing, from Oct 10 to 11, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.
He learned in detail of the social and economic development in Chongqing and the city's progress in implementing new urban construction, internet Plus and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Xu visited Chongqing West Railway Logistic Park, Xiyong Comprehensive Bond Area and Liangjiang New Area to learn about the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative.
He then visited companies such as Changan Automobile to learn about their manufacturing operations and R&D. He also visited internet companies such as Osell (a cross border e-commerce company), to learn about their operations against the background of "Internet Plus".
Xu hosted three seminars during the two-day investigation. He recognized Chongqing's achievement in social and economic development, noting that the year-on-year GDP increase of Chongqing topped the entire nation in the first half of 2015.
He also made some suggestions for Chongqing's future development. "Chongqing should pay attention to important factors including the uncertain international economic situation and weakened domestic financial demands," said Xu.
He also hoped Chongqing can take advantage of the country's "Belt and Road Initiative" and "Internet plus" to make greater contributions to the nation's economic development.
On behalf of the Party's Chongqing Committee and Chongqing Municipal Government, secretary Huang Qifan, thanked Xu for NDRC's long-term support to Chongqing. He also briefed Xu on the measures Chongqing has taken in economic growth, reform, and opening up.
Huang Qifan, Weng Jieming, Ling Yueming and other Chongxing municipal government officials accompanied Xu on his inspection.
