A smart lighting management system was recently put into trial at Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area, heralding a new era of smart management, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.
"We can control the brightness of any individual lamp by simply clicking the mouse. If there is something wrong with the lamps, the electronic map can identify the position so that engineers can go directly and fix it," said Zhu Bize, vice-general manager of Liangjiang Energy Conservation Service Co. Ltd, developer of the lamp.
The smart lamp consumes 70 to 80 percent less electricity compared with conventional high pressure sodium lamps. It can also reduce maintenance costs by 50 percent.
The compact smart lighting system has integrated software and hardware and is applicable to all road conditions. The smart lighting project is part of Liangjiang's effort to establish a smart city that features low-carbon. The lighting system will also be applied in the Yufu Industrial Development Zone and the Chongqing Lianglu Cuntan Bond Area, with the ultimate goal being to cover the entire new area.
