The leading Taiwan IT company, Inventec, signed an investment contract with Liangjiang's Northern New District on Oct 19. The investment will help to launch the district’s first big data research center.
The research center will serve as a cloud service platform to help Inventec realize its strategic transformation.
Inventec's development plan reveals that the company will launch five data centers in five cities, including Chongqing and Shanghai by 2017. "The research center will construct itself as a solution support center to provide the comprehensive IT solutions to small and mid-sized enterprises in western and central China," said Cong Yulin, vice manager of the Inventec Cloud Service Center.
Inventec hopes to bring its wealth of knowledge and experience from the manufacturing industry to the cloud computing industry as it launches its first big data center. According to Cong, Inventec has 40 years of experience in manufacturing hardware, while the cloud computing sector is a new territory for the company.
Asked why the company chose Chongqing as the location of its research center, Cong cited the municipality's preferential policies and said that it has a good investment environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
