The colossal "Single's Day" shopping day on Nov 11 helped propel AigouBaoshui -a cross-border ecommerce company based in Liangjiang's Lianglu Cuntan Bonded Port –to new heights this year.
Statistics show that Aigou received processed 8,368 orders on the day, raking in 2.08 million yuan ($325,400).
Aigou's e-commerce website received 35,000 visitors, 40 percent of whom were from the Chongqing municipality.
According to an official from Lianglu Cuntan Bonded Port, the Aigouecommerce platform is open to the customers 24/7. The company promises to process shipments within 24 hours. "In general, the customer can receive the order within five days," said the official.
Chongqing Office for Port Services has also set up a cross-border ecommerce tracking platform to enable customers to keep up to date on the whereabouts of their goods.
Asa pilot area for cross-border commerce reforms, Liangjiang has seen its cross-border commerce develop rapidly in recent years. Lianglu Cuntan Port has constructed two semi-automatic checking and sorting lines, and warehouses, covering 95,000 square meters. In the first half of this year, Liangjiang introduced 98 cross-border ecommerce enterprises to the area.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
