Five banks refused to accept four sacks of coins a woman in Chongqing wanted to deposit.
The woman, surnamed Dong, wanted to deposit 20,000 yuan in revenue she and her husband received from customers at their small plastics factory.
Dong finally deposited the money in the sixth bank on Monday after three days of trouble.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
