Chongqing Nanshang Robot Scien-tech Co Ltd signed an agreement with Fudan University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Chongqing Green Intelligent Technology Institution on Jan 18, Chongqing Daily reported.

These three parties will jointly establish a national institute focusing on key technological components of robots such as the speed reducer, electrical machine, and controller.

Located at Longyanhe Industrial Park in Nanchong District, Chongqing Nanshang Robot Scien-tech Co, Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chongqing Nanshang Investment (Group).

The company has developed several robots including four and six axis industrial robots, domestic service robots and Chinese medicine health care robots. All these new robots will be put into operation this February.

"In the coming five years, we hope to invest 500 million yuan to develop robots for entertainment and family services, based on the intelligent manufacturing needs of Nanchuan district or even Chongqing," said Liu Zhenkun, CEO of Chongqing Nanshang Robot Scien-tech Co, Ltd.

"Chongqing has formed a whole industrial chain of R&D, manufacturing and inspection, with a total output volume of over 10 billion yuan. It has also enjoyed good momentum in whole robots manufacturing including painting robots, welding robots, medical robots and education robots," said He Guotian, director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Chongqing Institute Robots Inspection and Assessment Center.

He also noted that the establishment of a national research institute is expected to lead to breakthroughs in key technology in robots and promote the development of the robots industry in Nanchuan district or even the entire Chongqing Municipality.
