A total of 30 companies in Chongqing Municipality were awarded by the State Intellectual Property office, ten of which were from Liangjiang New Area, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.
The awards mean that Liangjiang has a group of companies with a number of intellectual property rights and the consequent ability to protect and utilize them. Other companies are encouraged to gain market advantages with intellectual property rights.
The awards were initiated by the State Intellectual Property Rights Office to implement an innovative development strategy and incubate Chinese companies with International competitiveness.
The ten awarded companies cover industries from pharmaceutical, photoelectric lighting, precision instruments, and automobile parts to surface technology.
Chongqing SILIAN Optoelectronic Technology Co, one of the winners, has been granted 152 patents since its founding, 40 of which were invention patents. It also has two software copyright registrations.
Chongqing Pharscin Pharmaceutical Co, another awarded company, will pay more attention to intellectual property rights management and establish its own IP and patents system that can support its main business.
Liangjiang New Area boasts a State Intellectual Property Right Industrial Park and an Intellectual Property Service Center. The annual number of patents granted in 2015 increased by 30 percent compared with the previous year.
Liangjiang New Area has also established an intellectual property rights court, the only junior court that offers professional IP related services in west and middle China. By the end of 2015, the court had accepted and processed over 2400 cases.
Liangjiang is working for a one-stop IP disputes management system based on Chongqing Patents Cloud Intellectual Property service agencies, the Liangjiang Intellectual Property Right Court and the Intellectual Property Service Center.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
