Liangjiang New Area recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chongqing Airport as part of the Sino-Singapore Logistics Program, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.
The cooperation will combine both sides’ advantages in industry, capital, technology, and management expertise and thus promote opening-up of the inland Chongqing municipality.
The two will cooperate based on the “Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Initiative”. The collaboration will be mainly in the areas of biological pharmaceuticals and the high-end personal ornaments industry.
Liangjiang will bring-in cold chain commerce and logistics companies and make the area a tariff-bonded industry base where cold chain products can be gathered and distributed.
The two will also cooperate in aircraft maintenance taking advantage of Chongqing Airport’s flights and airlines. Liangjiang will bring-in Singaporean plane maintenance companies and develop airplane facility maintenance businesses.
Liangjiang and the airport will also co-establish a medical and pharmaceutical base in Liangjiang New Area to develop imported medical products and service trade fairs.
Singapore has several first-tier brands and a completed jewelry industry chain. Liangjiang will establish and promote a high-end personal ornament processing industry.
The China-Singapore Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Initiative has brought new opportunity to the tariff-bonded area in Chongqing.
As a major opening-up platform in Chongqing, the Lianglu cuntan Tariff Bonded Area in Liangjiang New Area has established close exchanges and cooperation with the Singapore Government on trade, commerce and logistics.
Liangjiang will cooperate more with Singapore in financial services, freight, logistics and telecommunication technology and become a new engine for economic growth in Chongqing.
Ling Yueming, party secretary of the Liangjiang New Area Committee, and leaders from the Chongqing Airport Group attended the ceremony.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
