Huayi Brothers Media Group signed an agreement with Chongqing Liangjiang New Area to launch a film village in Liangjiang on May 11, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.
The film village will be constructed at Yuelai Village, near the Yuelai International Exhibition Center, and will have an area of 117 mu.
Huayi Brothers will take part in design, concept planning and daily operation of the film village. It will combine the culture of Yuelai Ancient Town and the themes of Huayi Brothers’ films, and make full use of the company’s resources of films and celebrities.
Wang Zhongjun, president of Huayi Bothers, is looking forward to shooting good films in Chongqing.
Huayi Brothers is a Chinese film production company, record label and talent agency founded in Beijing by brothers Wang Zhongjun and Wang Zhonglei in 1994. It opened a film world in Suzhou, Jiangsu province and a cultural city in Shenzhen, Guangdong province in 2015.
In the coming four years, Huayi Brothers' entertainment division will launch a total of 20 projects and is expected to make 10 billion yuan ($15.3 billion).
The film village in Liangjiang New Area will be a leisure venue for local people and drive cultural tourism in Chongqing Municipality.
Huang Qifan, mayor of Chongqing Municipality, Ling Mingyue, director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, Duan Chenggang, deputy director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, and Wang Zhongjun, president of Huayi Brothers attended the signing ceremony.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
