Many members of overseas and domestic media, domestic entrepreneurs and leading academics visited the Liangjiang New Area on June 25 to look into local development.
The visit was part of a three-month trip initiated by Xinhua News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China Council for Promotion of International Trade and the National Tourism Administration which started from Henan province and will cover 12 countries to gather constructive information for China's Belt and Road Initiative.
The media organizations joining the trip include Xinhua News Agency, China Radio International, China Beijing TV Station and Tencent Holdings Limited.
The group visited Chongqing's oversea goods straight purchase center, bonded port exhibition and transaction center and were impressed by the prices of the imported goods, which are lower than those of goods purchased though any other channels in China.
Ling Guansheng, vice president of the Beijing branch of the China Economic Information Service Co, said the trip organizers chose the Liangjiang New Area as an interview destination for two reasons.
One is that its thriving intelligent manufacturing and auto industries represent the development direction of Chongqing, a crucial place to implement the Belt and Road Initiative.
The other reason is that certain policies of the new area are geared to the strategy of the initiative.
