The children of expat families and local residents in Chongqing will soon be able to enjoy world-class preschool education as early as next spring, according to Chongqing Daily.
Htwo Education Holdings, a Singapore-based investment company focusing on education, has agreed to set up a kindergarten in the Liangjiang New Area.
Based on the agreement signed with a local business incubator, Htwo Holdings will build a preschool specializing in teaching children in English and Chinese.
Singapore has become Chongqing's largest investor, with some 244 companies setting up in the city with investment exceeding 37.45 billion yuan ($5.6 billion), based on official figures.
Winning the ASEAN Business Award 2008 for The Most Admired Enterprise Under Growth, Htwo Holdings has established more than 30 overseas international kindergartens in China, Korea, Indonesia as well as other countries. Its popular education brands include Singapore Childcare, Leo Kidz International and Cherie Heart Asia.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
