The Jiangbei District of Chongqing municipality has joined hands with APL Logistics, the logistics arm of Singapore-based global container shipping and logistics company Neptune Orient Lines, to set up a global service center.

Over 60 million yuan ($ eight million) will be invested to build the global service center including a customer service center with more than 500 employees in the district's Jiangzuibei, a central business area and also home to the administration of China-Singapore key projects this year. The service center is expected to provide data services for the global business of APL Logistics.

The project marks new progress on information communication and logistics with transportation service, spearheaded by the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.

APL Logistics is one of the first foreign companies approved to provide logistics service in China and a main supply chain services provider all over the world. APL Logistics operates 271 offices in more than 55 countries, managing 200 warehouse areas of over 26 million square meters. It serves more than 800 companies featured in different areas including electronic products, chemical industry and daily consumer goods.

China and Singapore has selected Chongqing as the site for the third government-to-government (G-to-G) project, which features the theme of "modern connectivity and modern services" and aims to become an important nodal point for the Belt and Road Initiative.
