A project was launched in the Liangjiang New Area at the end of July to develop the area’s health, science and technology industries.
According to the Liangjiang New Area’s management committee, the project is to build a new town and dedicate it in November. Two leading real estate companies, the Jinke Property Group Co and Yida China Holdings Ltd, are in charge of the project, which will focus on the developing industries of big health, software and mobile Internet, intelligent research and development, service outsourcing and e-commerce.
It will integrate offices, residence and commerce in an area of 414,000 square meters with an investment of eight billion yuan ($1.2 billion). It will also cooperate with the Tasly Holding Group Co and the Neusoft Co in building an incubator for new medicine and precision medicine development.
The project will introduce 400 to 500 companies to the area and create 20,000 jobs within five years of completion. The total value of the enterprises introduced by the project will amount to five billion yuan ($753 million) by 2022.
Shen Xiaozhong, director of the Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, said: “Big health industry is an emerging industry with great market potential.” A person responsible for the project said the new town will fuse the elements of health, science and technology into its residential and commercial areas and guide Chongqing’s industrial and urban development.
