Under the guidance of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Chongqing Municipal Government, i-VISTA is a cooperative result of China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co and several famous domestic institutes.
Xie Fei, deputy general manager of the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co, said there are many advantages to the facility.
“The i-VISTA covers all kinds of road conditions, communication, and traffic, which creates an all-round testing platform for intelligent vehicles, smart traffic and communication technologies,” Xie said.
“The project is a testing area focused on vehicle’s performance in city traffic. It has the richest and best testing facilities of its kind in China.”

By 2019, i-VISTA is expected to develop into a national public service platform and intelligent network big data center, covering 90 percent of all road conditions found in western China, and 85 percent of the whole country.
